&Tradition

The design for the Mayor sofa was created for Søllerød City Hall, built from 1939-1942 as part of a overall design where Arne Jacobsen was the main architect for everything from the building’s appearance to the design of furniture and door handles. The sofa stands out from the furniture Arne Jacobsen is known for today. This well-known furnitures shows an Arne Jacobsen who had found his style inspired by international modernism while in contrast Mayor sofa features a unique style that draws upon the Danish  traditions of fine woods and functional solutions as well as the international modernism for which Arne Jacobsen is famous. With the introduction of Mayor sofa, &Tradition contributes to telling this largely untold story of Arne Jacobsen. 

Ce canapé Mayor a été créé pour Søllerød hôtel de ville en 1939-1942 dans le cadre d'une conception globale où Arne Jacobsen était le principal architecte : de l'apparence de l'édifice à la conception des poignées de meubles et de portes. Le canapé pourtant est toujours célèbre. Arne Jacobsen, qui avait trouvé son propre style inspiré par le modernisme, a conçu ce canapé avec des contrastes entre le style unique danois (du bois précieux et des solutions fonctionnelles) et entre le modernisme international pour lequel Arne Jacobsen est célèbre. 
Avec l'introduction du canapé Mayor, & Tradition contribue à raconter cette histoire en grande partie incalculable de Arne Jacobsen.
